HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVER!

I still remember the day that Melissa and I took Oliver home from the Nashville Humane Society, it was Sunday, May 21, 2006. We had only lived in Nashville for 1 week when we decided to visit the Nashville Humane Society one Saturday afternoon. There, in a cage with his brothers and sisters was a 4.5 pound "Shih Tzu" mix by the name of Lemon. Melissa and I immediately feel in love with this little man. We left the NHS and went straight to Borders to look at books about Shih Tzu's, and to determine if this would be a good dog for our 900 Square Foot duplex. On Sunday afternoon, our friend Leigh Ann encouraged us to take her to the NHS and introduce her to "Lemon." Melissa and I were convinced, if he was still there, he would be ours. Of course, we walked into the shelter, and there he was, staring at both of us, with eyes that said, "Please take me home." (I swear her remembered us from the day before.) Well, the rest is history...

Today, Oliver turns 5! Obviously, he did not turn out to be the Shih Tzu mix we expected, instead, a 57 pound bundle of energy, love and joy. Last night, we celebrated his Birthday with a little cook-out at Tom's:

Birthday Boy Oliver
Steaks on the grill for the dogs
Oliver's Birthday Supper
Oliver's Birthday Cake
Where did the 5 years go?

Kiss me, I'm Irish!

I hope everyone had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day! Oliver had the privilege of spending the day with two Irish girls; therefore, he felt the need to dress the part.

Dog Days of Spring

This past weekend was filled with both old and new experiences.

Old: The 3 founding members of the Glendale Dog Park reunited for a memorable Saturday afternoon in the sun.

Ellie

Bea

Oliver

Bea - "Men, I just don't get 'em!"

New: I experienced my very first Dog Show. As expected, dogs were EVERYWHERE...Some resting, some being groomed and some trotting around the ring. Do you know the saying that pets often resemble their owners?, I now believe it more than ever!

I hope you had just as much fun this weekend as I!

It's all about the birds.

If you know me, you know that I LOVE birds. They can be found all over my apartment - 17 to be exact. Below are a few items that have recently caught my eye...

1. Adorable Bird lamp. Since I hate overhead ligting, I believe that one can never have too many lamps.

2. With my new desk, I am in seach of new desk accessories. This magnetic paper clip holder is SO cute!

3. Marc Jacobs Necklace - No explanation needed.

4. I am interested in adding some new pillows to my living room. If you have never heard of Thomas Paul, you need to check out his website NOW! I would like one of everything. Please and thank you.

5. A cake plate with birds. LOVE. (thomaspaul.com) There is also a whale plate that I also think needs to become a part of my serveware collection.

6. See #4.

7. Marc Jacobs Clutch - Unfortunately, this clutch is no longer available, except for on ebay...but I still thought I would share.

Back to the left side.

My little man has come to Nashville to visit me for a couple of weeks! As much as I love having him with me, I do not love how my sleeping arrangements are altered. Of course, Oliver has first priority of which side of the bed he would like to sleep on; his preference is the right side. (Maybe because it is closest to the door?) Unfortunately, this is the side I usually sleep on, which causes me to be pushed to the left side of the bed... I guess I should be thankful that he has yet to kick me out of my own bed all together!

21 Days Remaining.

Today, I went here.

To get my butt in gear.

I took a Zumba class.

 And shook my ass.

And left, looking like I jumped in there.
