A trip to the doctor.

Nothing breaks my heart more than having to watch The Turn being hooked up, pulled and lifted onto a tow truck. Unfortunately, after not wanting to start earlier this weekend, she was taken to the doctor this morning for a check-up. I can't even imagine what it will be like when I have to take my "real" children to the doctor one day. Although, I am sure of one thing, the tears will flow just the same.

All in all, The Turn is back to normal health with a brand new Starter. After a small joy ride this evening and a trip to our favorite hangout (Sonic), she has been given some love and is doing much better.

Thank you for all of your thoughts and well wishes!

Flashback to 1980

I was doing some recent facebook stalking, when I decided to look at Fancy's page and see what was new in her life. I soon noticed that someone had recently created an album, and tagged her in a few of the pictures. Of course, I was eager to look, and then absolutely amazed at what I found.

After calling Fancy to tell her that I had found the picture and am speechless, I then proceeded to ask some questions about the history of the photo. Mom and Dad met in the Becomers Sunday school class at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, TX. The photo was taken at a 50's throwback party in early 1980, in which my mom and dad were 27 at the time. (My age right now.) When I followed her comment with, "Gee, I wish I looked as good as you did when you were 27!" Her response to me was:

"Well, when you are in love, you just don't eat that much."
(Mom and Dad were engaged shortly after, and then married in July.)

Looks like I need to find someone to love
AND, according to Fancy, join a singles Sunday school class.

Happy Monday!

S'more Lovin.

Because everything is more fun on a stick!

With the craving for S'mores ever present during the summer months, I recently stumbled across this recipe for S'more Bites, with no open flame required. With only 3 ingredients (Marshmallows, Milk Chocolate Chips and Graham Crackers), this is quite possibly one of the easiest things I have ever done; here are the directions.

1. Using lollipop sticks, put a marshmallow on one end, and set aside. (You can either do one marshmallow on each stick, or several, whatever floats your boat.)
2. Crumble up the graham crackers and set aside.
3. Over a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips tills smooth.
4. Dip each marshmallow in chocolate and then sprinkle the graham cracker bits to coat. (Do not roll, as this will create a bigger mess.)
5. When finished with all of the S'more Bites, set in the refrigerator to firm up.

ENJOY!

Creatively Inspired.

I was reading a blog the other day, when I saw this idea for DIY fabric gift wrap. Of course, I fell in love instantly because of the whales; but, as I started to do my research, I found many blogs who were showcasing the very same idea. To view the complete, step by step guide for the fabric mentioned below, click on the provided link. http://www.unruly-things.com/

I am now 100% determined to get creative with all of my gift wrapping needs!

The Bird Chronicles.

Yesterday, after learning that all 3 robin eggs have hatched, I went over to my friend's house to visit the new babies. Unfortunately, we could not get the 3rd baby to wake up and open it's mouth. (I guess he was smart enough to know that we were really not his
mother bringing food.)

On to other bird news - Momma blue bird has laid 5 more eggs.

And Fancy, If you have any additional questions
regarding "Who, What, Where, When, Why and How?,"

Remember:
Because Tom said so.

Baby bird.

A couple weeks ago, I posted a blog about being "One With Nature."  The post included a picture of a robin's nest, with one little egg. When I mentioned that more eggs were to follow, my mother was quick to comment, and said "Hey Nature Girl, How do you know the bird will lay more blue eggs? Just wondering... :) " Well Fancy, here is my reason:

Because Tom said so.

And here is proof. Two eggs were to follow, and the one lonely egg, has now hatched.

The flash on my camera woke up the baby.
Oops. (But it did make for a great shot.)

*UPDATE: Yesterday morning (6-6-11), another baby bird was born.

You say Tomato, I say Tomahto.

The Pink Girls have arrived, and there are lots of them! I have already started a collection of recipes for when they are ready to be picked. Some of the plants have already reached 4 feet in height; I wonder if we are going to break any records this year?

Milk Glass Obsessed

My recent obsession with Pinterest, has lead me to
my new love of Milk Glass.

Yesterday, I decided to visit my local thrift stores to see if I could begin my very own collection...AND, I have found two pieces - A Cake Stand and a large Goblet. Now, whether they are real or not, I am working on my facts and a history lesson right now, and will keep you posted!

Summer Brew

For my Birthday, a few of my coworkers took me out for drinks after work. I am very thankful for their friendship, but also thankful that I have now discovered my summertime go to refreshment - A Summer Shandy. What is a Shandy you ask?

* Shandy, or Shandygaff is normally a beer mixed with citrus-flavored sodacarbonated lemonadeginger beerginger ale, or cider. The proportions of the two ingredients are adjusted to taste, normally half-and-half.

My mouth is watering right now...

My favorite combination is a wheat beer, mixed with Sunkist. (Yes, I said Sunkist!) This is what I had on my Birthday. The light, crisp and almost sparkling refreshment, is the perfect end to any hot summer day.

CHEERS!

Martha's Vineyard Bound

In the future, I would love the opportunity to live near my family again; until then, we will remain in our own states of Tennessee, Texas and California. Because of the distance in between, I do not have the opportunity to see my family as much as I would like.
Therefore, I am very excited about the rapidly approaching family vacation to my favorite place on earth - Martha's Vineyard. In honor of the upcoming trip, below are some highlights from last year.

[ Enjoy. ]

I got to drive the Ferry! This was in response to the crew saying they were
going to show us a little "Rhode Island" hospitality.

The crew said that this was the first time the captain
had smiled all week. (Captain in white.)

Dad and Fancy always know how to make me feel "Welcome."

Statue fun.

Dad and Fancy watching the sunset.

Two of my favorite things - Whales and Hydrangeas!

My New Obsession

I will be the first to admit, I have been distant for some time. I am sorry. I do not have a good excuse, except for the fact that I have found a new love. Not that I no longer love blogging, something else has just come into the mix. If you are not familiar with my new love, I would formally like to introduce you to Pinterest.

If you are not familiar with Pinterest, think of it as an inspiration board. Pinterest allows you to "pin" images online into a collection of "boards" in which you categorize. Click here, and you can see what I am talking about. If you are already a member of Pinterest, come follow me, and I will follow you.

If you would like to join Pinterest, and join the love affair, click here. (Or, you can let me know, and I can send you an invite - that way, you will not have to wait on the waiting list)

Happy Pinning!
